Textile Art 2021

Textile Art: Kate Steane 2021

I only created 14 pieces this year, mostly because I was putting my energies into creating booklets of my mother’s paintings, having an exhibition of my past few year’s textile work and the enjoying the last exhibition of Mum’s paintings (www.paintingsbyninacarroll.com).

My best work this year has been inspired by my sister who visits her son in New Caledonia each year, an island in the South Pacific, a breakaway island from the northeast coast of Australia. I have been once in 2018. My sister loves swimming with turtles and I love hearing about it. I enjoyed the sub tropical forests and the amazing flowers in NC, including the bird of paradise flower. I always love mulling over experiences.
